WEEKEND TICKETS DAY TICKETS SCHEDULE LAWN PARTY LOCATION

Welcome to the Newport Jazz Age Weekend, a tribute to the music and fashion of the 1920’s-50’s! Hosted by the Greater Boston Vintage Society this event takes place at three Gilded Age estates owned by Salve Regina University. For 2025, we are changing format and location from past years. We are now further down Ruggles Ave right next to the Breakers Mansion. To go along with this year’s “collegiate” theme, instead of a nighttime ball, we are having a “Homecoming Lawn Party Picnic” with live jazz during the day and an “Ice Cream Social” Saturday night (with an open bar!). We are also planning some new outings including a guided tour of Belcourt Mansion and a cruise to Rose Island Lighthouse for a vintage beach party. So dig out that old varsity sweater and join us as we “give it the old college try”!
This year’s theme: “Back to School: Collegiate Traditions of Days Gone By!”

Founders Hall is our main event space and housing option. This beautiful estate will be the setting for our grand Lawn Party Picnic on Saturday afternoon. It was built in 1889 and used as a private home for most of its life until being converted for school and college use. With a grand porch and a vast lawn right on Ruggles Ave, it is the perfect place to experience life in the period. The estate is currently used as a student dormitory and to host guests for conferences. The rooms are converted for modern standards, but still retain much of their original Gilded Age charm and design.

We also have access to two other nearby estates. “Ochre Lodge” was built in 1882 and is the closest home to the famous Breakers mansion. It was a summer home for Julia B. Eldridge. “Carolyn House” is our third housing option and was originally the carriage house to Ochre Lodge. All rooms vary in shape and size, but have the same amenities. The best experience is to stay for the weekend, but we also offer ticket options for day guests on Saturday. These halls are right near the famous Newport cliff walk and seaside views. This is the heart of the historic district and along with our Schedule, there are so many other activities you can check out in town.

We have plenty of vintage college themed activities in store, plus more to be added. See our Schedule Page for info. Credit to the Vintage Inn for the photos above, and check out their posts on vintage college clubs.

Registration Options
There are two main ticket options. For those wanting the most complete experience, a limited number rooms are available to stay for the entire weekend. See the Weekend Tickets link. These rooms are furnished dormitory style, but include linens and normal hotel amenities. This package includes continental breakfast each day and admission to all activities. This is an affordable alternative to booking a hotel in Newport and it’s the only place where you can spend your entire weekend living in the jazz age period!

The second ticket option is for guests attending for part or all of Saturday’s activities. See the Day Tickets link. For an additional cost, you can also participate in other parts of the weekend, just send an email to gbvintagesociety@gmail.com. Click on the Schedule Page for more info.
