The Smack Dabs specialize in good-time Swing Blues music from the 1930’s, featuring the songs of Tampa Red, Big Bill Broonzy, The Harlem Hamfats, and many others. This delightful and timeless genre features a rich variety of musical styles, ranging from mournful blues to joyful celebrations, setting the stage for incredible solo and group improvisations and delighting listening audiences and dancers alike.

GBVS is pleased to have curated furniture, props, and decoration for the new “1965 Experience”! Travel back to the year Sheraton Boston first opened its doors, when the Beatles ruled the airwaves, and mid-century modern design defined the future. Now, six decades later, we invite you to relive the era with The 1965 Experience. This exclusive suite was curated by the Greater Boston Vintage Society and features mid-century furnishings, a vintage record player with a handpicked vinyl collection, AM Radio, and artifacts from the hotel’s opening.

The suite accommodates up to two overnight guests and includes a separate living area and a bedroom featuring one king bed. This would make a great winter escape and a nice surprise gift for the holidays! You can find full info at the link above.

On Wednesday, Oct 1st at 7pm, sales begin for the Nor’Eater Island Topical Weekend! The Greater Boston Vintage Society welcomes you to Nor’Easter Island! The first and only immersive tropical weekend of New England! At our perfectly decorated hotel, enjoy an assortment of live bands, Tiki cocktails, classes, and vintage vendors, all culminating to a Grand Luau and dance on Saturday night. This year’s theme will take you to the 1940’s where you will find yourself immersed in a pre-war Pearl Harbor setting. We’re even more excited to bring you Dan Gabel’s “Stoptime Revue”, 7-piece orchestra! This is a very talented band in the style of Tommy Dorsey’s Clambake 7 and Count Basie’s Kansas City 7.

GBVS is pleased to be working with the Ft. Devens Museum again as we bring you the WWII Victory Dance! 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII. As part of our “Saturday Night Swing out” series, this USO style dance will return to the authentic 1930’s dance hall in Shirley, MA. This year’s entertainment is the 19-piece Compaq Big Band! GBVS is putting together the last details for the Newport Jazz Age Weekend 2025! This year we have some new and exciting news. Overnight guests will stay in one of 3 totally different Gilded Age mansions: Founders Hall, Ochre Lodge, and Carolyn House.
You’re going to have a super fun time exploring these unique vintage spaces for the first time. On Sunday of our adventure, we will have the first ever Newport vintage Beach Party on Rose Island! (Haven’t you been “itching” to get out the wool bathing suit?!) While there, guests can also visit the lighthouse and the other historic buildings. Plus, this year as part of our theme, we are expanding to the lawn party to have a live jazz band and dancing!

The Saturday Night Swing Out continues on March 15th with the spectacular talents of the “Annie and the Fur Trappers” jazz band! This popular 7-piece group is well known in the swing world for their great sound and dance rhythm. This is our last night at Larz Anderson till later this year, so come down and join us. The GBVS Vintage Oasis will be the location of our February “Saturday Night Swing out!” We have combined the fun of swing dancing and a twist party for the last portion of our event. By the year 1960 you could see both swing dancing and the twist on the same dance floor. Our fabulous band, “The Sound Minds” is going to create the perfect mix of surf, rock, and jump blues to get everyone up on the dance floor!

In partnership with the Larz Anderson Museum, GBVS is bringing a new dance to Boston! “Saturday Night Swing Out!” is the latest hotspot for live jazz and swing dancing. Opening night, January 18th will showcase the 19-piece Compaq Big Band with vocalist Aviana Gedler! Arrive at 7pm for a complimentary beginner lesson, and dance from 8-11pm. The Vintage Oasis is now released! This tropical themed weekend escape will take place Friday February 14th to Sunday the 16th, 2025. (Yes, the perfect Valentine’s Day getaway for that special someone!) Come for a wide selection of vintage vendors as well as a tribute to the world of mid-century Tiki themed fantasy. The vintage market will be open all day Saturday featuring all eras of top-shelf clothing and antique goods. For those who come for the tropical flavor, there will be activities all weekend including: great cocktails, live music/dancing, classes, a pool party, and the Grand Luau! The setting for the weekend is the Palm Court and Ballroom of the (perfectly vintage) Sturbridge Host Hotel. There are several ticket options based on how much of the event you want to attend.
