Casino Royale! April 1st at the Larz Anderson Museum

Being the “swinging sixties” we will have a swing dance lesson at the beginning of the night and live music from the Wolverine Jazz Band. Newport is Back! June 16-18th 2023

Newport is back!!! ….with one small change. We are now the “Newport Jazz Age Weekend“. Same great event, just a more appropriate name! This year we have a special lineup and a great theme. Celebrate Juneteenth weekend with us as we pay tribute to “The History and Influence of Black American Culture in Jazz and Swing”. All weekend we will have talks and dance classes lead by NYC instructor Odysseus Bailer!

Between classes on Saturday we will have our traditional lawn party picnic and activities. Then get ready for a really special Black-Tie Ball headlined by “Taryn Newborne and the Real Deal”!!! This band knows how to play for dancers and will be perfect for enjoying what you learned in class.

Weekend Registration is now open and Day Tickets will go on sale in February. Don’t miss out!

Winter Formal Italiano! — December 10th

Ciao! The Winter Formal returns to the 1950’s with strong Italian flavor. To spice things up this year we’re going with a full dinner format. GBVS is partnering with Maria’s Family Restaurant of Haverhill for an evening of delizioso entrées from the “old country”. Maria’s restaurant has the perfect vibe for the era and a great function hall for dinner and dancing. Musical accompaniment will be provided by talented pianist Benjamin Peabody. He’ll play some songs for dancing as well as your favorite holiday hits. Feel free to make requests. While your there take a picture by the grand piano and Christmas tree!

Aloha Party at the new GBVS HQ – Aug 20th!

Let’s say Aloha and welcome you to the new GBVS Headquarters! Your director, Jason Volk, has been spending every free minute for the the last 5 years constructing a period correct 1930’s barn/garage. It is time now to share it with you and celebrate with a swell vintage get together. Since the weather is warm GBVS is going to have a tribute to Hawaiian luau’s of the late 1940’s. The barn will be transformed into a sea-side shanty on the island of Oahu complete with decorations, tiki torches, and even our WWII Jeep straight over from Pearl Harbor. Guests will enjoy a full catered meal, a selection of period cocktails, plus live entertainment from the Rubin Brothers band! Further info can be found on the Facebook event page. Newport Art Deco Weekend June 24-26th!

Spring is flying by and before we know it will be time for Newport 2022. This return of the most fun and immersive vintage event of the season is not to be missed! The weekend includes games, dancing, classes, a lawn party, Black-Tie Ball, and tours of the Newport Mansions. This year’s theme is “classic cinema of the Art Deco Period” and will include a red carpet costume contest!

GBVS WWII Victory Dance! April 30th

In partnership with the Fort Devens Museum we are pleased to bring back the WWII Victory Dance! A 1940’s night of swing dancing and music by Dan Gable and the Abletones Big Band. This fundraiser for the the museum was a sold out hit back in 2019 and we’re looking at an even more exciting night including a dance contest with great prizes. Winter Wonderland at Mountain View Grand!

A group of GBVS members are getting together the weekend of March 5/6th to stay at the historic Mountain View Grand in Whitefield, NH. We welcome you to join us in some vintage revelry. We will meet at 1pm Saturday for vintage style cross-country skiing and then head inside for dinner and evening activities. There are ski rentals and trails on-site. The Winter Formal returns! This exclusive evening will take you back to the year 1931. Forget your troubles at the secret speakeasy of the historic Essex Bank of Salem! Get your ticket before time runs out, this limited event will be just what you need to get your holiday cheer in full swing.

Dance to the sounds of the Wolverine Jazz band and explore the activity at this lively estate. Doors open 8:30, Band goes on 9pm to midnight!

Roaring Twenties Lawn Party August 7th-8th!

Ticket sales are going fast for the return of the summer spectacular that is the Roaring Twenties Lawn Party! Make sure not to miss this year’s event at Castle Hill of the Crane Estate. Back in attendance will be Tamar Korn’s Kornucopia on Saturday as well as the Baby Soda Jazz band on Sunday. The dance floor will be open and there will be activities throughout the grounds. GBVS will be returning to host the Vintage Vendor Fair as well as provide an offering of antique autos for your picture taking enjoyment. We have decided not to have the GBVS beach party this year but don’t worry we definitely will bring that back in the near future. Can’t wait to see you all, say hi at the GBVS tent!
