We are very fortunate to have Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society for Saturday night’s Black-Tie Ball! This band is a center point of the Philadelphia jazz scene and has played numerous major jazz and swing dance events. They are also known for their performances at premier vintage events like the NYC Jazz Age Lawn Party, The Race of …Gentlemen in New Jersey, and the Jazz Age on the Delaware, a Philadelphia based lawn party.
This band is going to make the dance floor come alive with their fast rhythms and musical talent. We are very pleased to share them with you. This is the only time I know of that the MA/RI swing scene will have a chance to hear them so don’t miss out! If you can’t commit to the whole weekend, Saturday admission is a great deal and includes all workshops, the lawn party, and then the Black-Tie Ball! Check out their videos below!
The theme for the evening is “Black Tie” dress of the art deco period. Dress code is not mandatory, but the suggestion is for dinner jackets (tuxedos) for the men and fancy dress for the ladies. For more info on this go to the “Black Tie Guide” website. Naturally, this website is devoted to men’s formal wear, but it is a wealth of information about cultural standards and is a great way to understand the period. Also see the “What to Wear” tab above for more vintage clothing info.
