Newport Jazz Age Weekend!

WEEKEND TICKETS     DAY TICKETS     SCHEDULE     LAWN PARTY     LOCATION

Welcome to the Newport Jazz Age Weekend, a tribute to the music and fashion of the 1920’s-40’s! Hosted by the Greater Boston Vintage Society, this event allows you to live in one of 3 Gilded Age estates owned by Salve Regina University. We will be returning to our location on Ruggles Ave, right next to the Breakers Mansion. Friday night includes a complimentary cocktail social hour. Then Saturday is our lawn party picnic with musical accompaniment by the Nouveau Jazz band! Plus, we have now added a formal dinner option on Saturday night at an historic estate downtown also with live music and dancing! We are partnering this year with the Brighton Bazaar, who will be running a vintage vendor show at this location during the day. Info for this show will be shared once it is released. This is going to be a very exciting year!

Founders Hall is our main event space and housing option.  This beautiful estate is the setting for our lawn party picnic. It was built in 1889 and used as a private home for most of its life until being converted for school and college use.  With a grand porch and a vast lawn right on Ruggles Ave, it is the perfect place to experience life in the period.  Like most of the Salve Regina properties, the estate is currently used as a student dormitory and to host guests for conferences. The rooms are converted for modern standards, but still retain much of their original Gilded Age charm and design.

2026 Theme: “Golden Age of Flight: Soar with us on the cool breezes of Newport!”

For this year’s event, we will take a journey to the early days of flight as it was during the jazz age. Highlights include a make your own balsa and paper airplane contest during our Saturday picnic, followed by a “GBVS Flyer’s” competition launching them from atop Founders Hall! Aerial footage will capture the high thrills flying adventure and there will be special prizes for distance and creativity. Then on Sunday morning we will take a visit to historic Beavertail Lighthouse for amazing kite flying and a tour of the museum. More details to come!

Registration Options

Along with Founders Hall, we also have access to two other nearby estates for Weekend Ticket attendees. “Ochre Lodge” was built in 1882 and is the closest home to the famous Breakers mansion. It was a summer home for Julia B. Eldridge. “Carolyn House” is our third housing option and was originally the carriage house to Ochre Lodge. All rooms vary in shape and size, but have the same amenities.  This location is right in the famous Newport historic district and cliff walk seaside path. Here are the activities on our Event Schedule. Plus, there are so many ways to spend your time in Newport, so make the most of it!

These rooms are furnished dormitory style, but include linens and normal hotel amenities.  This package includes continental breakfast each day, parking, and access to all activities.  This is an affordable alternative to booking a hotel in the area and it’s the only place where you can spend your entire weekend living in the jazz age!
