The Winter Formal is back January 8th! This 1940’s formal event will bring us the entire 18-piece Dan Gabel and the Abletones Band to the exquisite Carrie Nation Restaurant! Ticket price includes one alcoholic beverage as well as tasty hors d’oeuvres! Plus, there will be a free dance lesson, performances, and a special contest with prizes by Salmagundi Hats! GBVS is proud to announce a new event being planned with Boston University’s Archeology Department! In perfect timing for the season, they will be having a special gala featuring a Victorian era themed “mummy enrolling”. Don’t be alarmed, this is not the real thing, but a reenactment of events and a lecture which is sure to give you compelling insight to the grotesque fascinations of the age.
This intimate evening is sponsored by BU for an affordable admission price but act now as tickets are going fast! The evening will also include a display of Egyptian artifacts from the Gabel museum and light hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Plus, the night’s entertainment will take place at the BU “Castle” a 19th-century Tudor style mansion! Click the above picture for tickets/info.
This just in! GBVS will hosting a 1950’s sock hop to knock your socks off! Saturday October 8th, at the Bishop Mackenzie Center in Newton, MA we will have a night of 1950’s excitement provided by the amazing Doo Wop Deville Band! Come early for the car show and vendors, then get dinner with friends and come back for the free dance lesson at 7pm. Doo Wop Deville goes on at 8pm. We will have a great selection of antique autos, vendors, and themed activities! More info to come, look for an announcement soon with the official website and Facebook page!

Come Join GBVS and the Boston Tweed group for a picnic outing to historic Nantasket Beach in Hull, MA. Bring your picnic basket/blanket and enjoy a day at the beach as if it was the 1920’s. The Newport Art Deco Weekend was a huge success! Thank you to all for making this the best GBVS event yet. The weather was perfect and everyone looked fabulous! Activities for the Newport Art Deco Weekend are firmed up and you will not want to miss this exciting event! The overnight package has sold out, but there are still tickets for the Saturday “day tickets” which allow you to attend on Friday night and Sunday as well. You can make your own exciting weekend experience by booking a room at one of the many beautiful Inns and B&B’s in the area!

For April’s event we will be back at the Carrie Nation Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge. This time we turn to the 1940’s to enjoy dinner, dancing and then a classic Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth film!
GBVS will once again take over the entire restaurant for a night of fun! Dinner at 6pm, a dancing/cocktail break at 7pm, and the complimentary film at 8pm. Preceeding the movie will be a period newsreel, both of which are on original 16mm film! Price is only $45 and includes a three course meal! More info can be found by clicking here.
